Lake Kawaguchiko Summer Event : Kojosai and Fireworks

Lake Kawaguchiko is one of the Fuji Five Lakes which are all situated near Mt Fuji. Lake Kawaguchiko is a popular tourist site through the year and there are numbers of seasonal events held around the lake such as Fuji Kawaguchiko Cherry Blossom Festivals and Autumn Leaves Festival.

Numbers of summer festivals and fireworks are held across the country, and they are definitely the top attractions during summer. If you are travelling in Japan during summer, you should definitely attend at least one summer festival, to feel the authentic atmosphere of festive and energetic summer nights in Japan.

One of the most popular summer event, Kawaguchiko Kojosai (河口湖湖上祭) is held annually at Lake Kawaguchiko for 2 days, featuring special events and the spectacular fireworks shot up from the lake and display the stunning view with Mt Fuji on the background.

Kawaguchiko Kojosai is scheduled to be held on 4 and 5 August annually, featuring over 10,000 fireworks in total displayed at the event for 2 days. The pre-event takes place at the night of 4 August with the dance performances and short-time fireworks for 15 mins. The main event is held on 5 August with the special events and live performances from day-time and the the grand fireworks for over 1 hour in the evening. During the festival, there are a lot of stalls lined along offering summer festivals food, chilled drinks and playful games.

Lake Kawaguchiko Kojosai is a part of the Fuji Five Lakes Fireworks Festivals which are held annually at Fuji Five Lakes (Lake Kawaguchiko, Lake Yamanakako, Lake Saiko, Lake Shojiko and Lake Motosuko) in the beginning of August. The fireworks festival kicks off at Lake Yamanakako, then the grand finale will take place at the Kojosai at Lake Kawaguchiko.
