Fullmetal Alchemist Exhibition RETURNS to be Held in Tokyo and Osaka in 2021–2022

Fullmetal Alchemist (鋼の錬金術師) written and drawn by Hiromu Arakawa is one of the most popular Japanese manga series of all time. It was serialized on Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine for 9 years between July 2001 and June 2010, and was also adapted into anime series for both TV and movies later on. With volume 27, the manga series sold over 70 million copies worldwide. Although the series was completed over a decade ago, it continues to be loved and still has a lot of fans internationally.

In 2021, Fullmetal Alchemist celebrates its 20th anniversary since its first publication in 2001, and several special events and projects are to be lined up including Fullmetal Alchemist Exhibition RETURNS that will be held from December 2021 to 2022 in Japan.

The original illustration exhibition of Fullmetal Alchemist previously toured across Japan from 2017 to 2019 and made a huge success. This year, it’s making a comeback with a bigger scale with a greater number of exhibits and contents, according to the press. The exhibition is scheduled to be held from late 2021 in Tokyo then from 2022 spring in Osaka.

In addition, there will be more exciting contents to come up for its 20th anniversary including free release of digital books, release of the 2009’s anime series on YouTube, release of a 20th anniversary book and collaboration cafe. New works such as a smartphone game of Fullmetal Alchemist and a new manga series by Hiromu Aarakawa are also in progress.
